Urine
Urinalysis
Checks your urine for infection, sugar, protein or other kidney and urinary problems. Preparation: first morning urine, midstream, in a sterile cup.
Urine culture
Looks for bacteria in the urine and identifies the type, to choose the right antibiotic. Preparation: first morning urine, midstream, after washing and before starting antibiotics.
24-hour urine protein
All urine from one day is collected to measure how much protein the kidneys lose. Preparation: we give you the container and instructions; pick it up beforehand.
Creatinine clearance
Using a 24-hour urine collection and a blood sample, it measures precisely how well the kidneys filter. Preparation: 24-hour urine (we provide the container and instructions) and a blood sample the day you drop it off.
Urine microalbumin
Detects small amounts of protein in the urine; useful to protect the kidneys in people with diabetes or high blood pressure. Preparation: first morning urine.
Pregnancy test

5-panel drug screen
Detects 5 groups of substances in urine. Mostly used for employment requirements. Preparation: the sample is collected here; bring a photo ID.
Stool
Stool test for parasites
Looks for intestinal parasites in a stool sample. Preparation: fresh sample in a clean container; if serial, 3 samples on different days. Do not use laxatives beforehand.
Fecal occult blood test
Detects blood in the stool that is not visible to the eye; used in colon screening. Preparation: for 3 days before, avoid red meat, vitamin C supplements and anti-inflammatory drugs, unless your doctor says otherwise.
Fecal leukocytes
Examines a stool sample under the microscope to help find the cause of diarrhea. Preparation: fresh sample in a clean container.
Before your test
Fasting means no food or sugary drinks; plain water is fine. Bring an ID and, if you have one, your doctor’s order. Tell us what medications you take. Don’t see your test? Call us and we’ll tell you if we offer it and how to prepare.
